I couldn't agree more. Huge debt for a degree, especially an undergraduate degree, is just not worth it. I chose to get my bachelor's degree as quickly and inexpensively as possible and focus on building valuable skills. I found Thomas Edison State College http://tesc.edu to be a good alternative to Excelsior. I was able to get my bachelor's degree in a few months by taking a lot of CLEP and DSST tests, finishing off a few Microsoft certifications for credit, and filling in the remaining gaps with two classes by way of assessment of prior learning and one online class.
