A snapshot of a printed version of the new reading list…
I’m hard at work preparing the 2008 edition of the PMBA Recommended Reading List for publication. I’m very excited about this new edition – I think you’ll find it a significant improvement over the 2007 edition.
Here’s what you can expect when the new list is published:
- 77 books, including 14 new recommendations and 2 new editions.
- Expanded, more comprehensive coverage of important subjects like Marketing, Sales, Leadership, Analysis, and Innovation.
- A new user-friendly design.
- Updated options to purchase the entire library of books. (If you’re thinking about purchasing the Motherlode, you should hold off until the new list is published.)
- Guidance on what to read first, based on your personal situation and goals.
PMBA Insiders will have first-look access to the new recommendations, so if you’re not yet a member, take a moment and sign up today!

I think a section on Finance needs to be incorporated. It’s tough to get anywhere without a core understanding of Financials.
Jim – there are several finance and accounting books in the current Analysis section, but it’s not clear just from reading the categories. This will be fixed in the 2008 edition.
What I would like to see is if some books are removed from the list, why where they removed.
I first came in contact with PMBA by the old PDF, and when I saw this site and the new list and found that several books were removed I was left wondering why they where removed.
It is possible to learn a lot on terms of what has changed, the topics, the subjects, advances, etc. if we know why a book was removed and why was it added.
Dear Josh,
I am an insider, but I´m not able to see the preview… and unfortunately I forgot my password… there´s a way to get it back?
TIA,
Gilmar
Hey Josh, I have a request. For this new list can you maybe show in the list, or on another webpage what all of the additions and removals were? This is something everyone is going to be interested in, and I wouldn’t want to compare the two lists in order to find the differences.
Thanks!
Malcolm
Dear Josh,
I’m an insider but i never have had any password or i’ve lost it and don’t find it in my e-mails !
how can i connect to the new list and future insiders ?
Thanks !
Nicolas
Hey Josh,
It`s good to know there is a 2008 edition coming our way.
Maybe you could put up some lists for specific areas like Finance, IT&C or Marketing. You could explore books in these categories for those who are looking for good quality books in specific domains. “The PMBA list for Finance” books it would be like niche market.
Hi,
I’m also subscribed to the PMBA insider, but I haven’t received any password or I have lost it. Is there a way to recover that password?
Thanks,
Luis
Josh,
What’s happening with the 2008 edition? I’ve finished the strategy section and I am ready to buy another set of books, but I wanted to wait until you update the list. Please put it up soon!
Thanks!
Hi Josh,
I am a big fan of the library and self-education in general, so I LOVE pmba.
I found a neat site recently related to books and I thought I’d share it with you since I searched this site and didn’t find mention of it.
The site is Shelfari.com
It’s sort of a social networking site for book lovers. Like a 43things for books. You put the books you’ve read on your virtual shelf and make lists of books you want to read, etc.
BTW, I am having a great 2008 thanks to your Personal Master Plan.
Thanks!
Just wondering if you had reviewed your list against Strategy & Business’ great Best Business Books list – see:

I’m way excited about the 2008 version. The 2007 list is/was awesome and I’m a little under 1/2 way thru it. 77 Books?!?!? I better clean off some room on the deck…!
Great work…
